Joshua 5:13-6:27 (K. V.: 6:20)

1. Read verses 5:13-15. Whom did Joshua meet and what did he ask of him (13)? How did the man reply and what does this indicate about the nature of the battle Joshua was facing (14a)? What does his action show us about Joshua and what did the commander ask him to do (14b, 15)?
2. Describes the stance the people of Jericho were taking (6:1). Why did they respond that way? What assurance did God give to Joshua (2)? What strange commands did God give to him right after giving him assurance (3-5)?
3. How did Joshua receive God’s commands (6, 7)? How about the priests and the army? In what respect was it not easy for the people to obey Joshua’s instructions (8, 9)?
4. What specific warning and commands did Joshua give to his people (10)? What wisdom does the following God’s commands teach us in fighting the His battle against Jericho (11-14)?
