The Chicago pastors’ and elders’ wives initiated an invitation for the seeJesus ministry to come and teach “A Praying Life” seminar on May 16-17, 2025, at our Chicago church. Pastor Will Peycke led the seminar. We didn’t just learn about having childlike faith to pray, but more importantly, we spent time praying and then shared with the 100 other attendants what was hard, awkward, and good about those prayer experiences. People found the seminar to be gracious and encouraging, as we learned that prayer is easier than we think when we can lay down our expectations and realize that Father God wants us to be honest and helpless in our prayers.

We were introduced to the tool of prayer cards as a practical method for praying faithfully for ourselves, our anxieties, difficult relationships, work, and other people. It was wonderful to see preteens, teens, college students, and adults attend. It was also encouraging that teens and young adults volunteered as greeters, book table sellers, babysitters, and photographers.

We pray that this seminar may bear lasting fruit as we keep praying and also do ten-week cohorts on the material, “A Praying Life” and “A Praying Church,” both written by Paul Miller.
